Chunky V-Neck Textured Sweater Pattern
Materials
- Yarn: Bulky weight (100% wool recommended), approx. 1000 yards
- Needles: US size 10 (6 mm) circular needles
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers
- Measuring tape
Gauge
4" x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm) = 12 stitches x 16 rows in pattern stitch
Abbreviations
- CO: Cast on
- BO: Bind off
- K: Knit
- P: Purl
- K2tog: Knit two together
- St(s): Stitch(es)
Instructions
Back
- CO 72 sts.
- Work in pattern stitch (K1, P1 rib) for 4 rows.
- Continue in main pattern:
- Row 1 (RS): K all sts.
- Row 2 (WS): P all sts.
- Row 3 (RS): *K2, P2*, repeat from * to * across.
- Row 4 (WS): *P2, K2*, repeat from * to * across.
- BO all sts.
Front
- Work as for back until piece measures 20 inches from CO edge.
- Begin V-neck shaping:
- Next row (RS): K36, attach a new ball of yarn, K2tog, work by repeating Row 3 with both sides separately.
- Continue decreasing 1 st at each neck edge every other row 8 times (28 sts each side).
- Work even until the front matches the back length.
- BO all sts.
Sleeves
- CO 32 sts.
- Work in (K1, P1) rib for 4 rows.
- Continue in pattern, increasing 1 st at each edge every 6th row to 56 sts, until sleeve measures 18 inches.
- BO all sts.
Finishing
- Block pieces to measurements.
- Seam shoulders.
- Attach sleeves at armhole, then sew sleeve and side seams.
- Weave in all ends.
