Materials

• Yarn: Bulky weight (100% wool recommended), approx. 1000 yards
• Needles: US size 10 (6 mm) circular needles
• Tapestry needle
• Stitch markers
• Measuring tape

Gauge

4" x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm) = 12 stitches x 16 rows in pattern stitch

Abbreviations

• CO: Cast on
• BO: Bind off
• K: Knit
• P: Purl
• K2tog: Knit two together
• St(s): Stitch(es)

Instructions

Back

1. CO 72 sts.
2. Work in pattern stitch (K1, P1 rib) for 4 rows.
3. Continue in main pattern:
   • Row 1 (RS): K all sts.
   • Row 2 (WS): P all sts.
   • Row 3 (RS): *K2, P2*, repeat from * to * across.
   • Row 4 (WS): *P2, K2*, repeat from * to * across.
   Repeat rows 1-4 until the piece measures 24 inches from CO edge.
4. BO all sts.

Front

1. Work as for back until piece measures 20 inches from CO edge.
2. Begin V-neck shaping:
   • Next row (RS): K36, attach a new ball of yarn, K2tog, work by repeating Row 3 with both sides separately.
   • Continue decreasing 1 st at each neck edge every other row 8 times (28 sts each side).
   • Work even until the front matches the back length.
   • BO all sts.

Sleeves

1. CO 32 sts.
2. Work in (K1, P1) rib for 4 rows.
3. Continue in pattern, increasing 1 st at each edge every 6th row to 56 sts, until sleeve measures 18 inches.
4. BO all sts.

Finishing

1. Block pieces to measurements.
2. Seam shoulders.
3. Attach sleeves at armhole, then sew sleeve and side seams.
4. Weave in all ends.
