Chunky Knit Scarf Pattern
This chunky knit scarf is a quick and rewarding project perfect for beginners. The scarf features a ribbed stitch pattern, making it both stretchy and stylish. You can easily adjust the length and width to make it your own!
Materials Needed:
- Super bulky weight yarn in teal (approximately 2-3 skeins, depending on desired length)
- Size 13 (9 mm) circular knitting needles (32 inches long recommended)
- Scissors
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
Gauge:
Gauge is not crucial for this project, but 10 stitches and 10 rows = 4 inches in rib stitch pattern can be useful to check for yarn tension.
Abbreviations:
- CO: Cast On
- k: Knit
- p: Purl
- k2tog: Knit two stitches together
Instructions:
- Cast On: Begin by casting on 20 stitches using the long-tail cast on method.
- Row 1: *Knit 2, Purl 2.* Repeat from * to * until the end of the row.
- Row 2: *Purl 2, Knit 2.* Repeat from * to * until the end of the row. This will create the ribbing effect.
- Row 3: Repeat Row 1.
- Row 4: Repeat Row 2.
- Continue: Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until the scarf reaches your desired length. A typical length will be around 60-70 inches.
- Bind Off: When you reach the desired length, bind off all stitches in pattern (K2, P2) for a clean edge.
- Weave in Ends: Use a yarn needle to weave in any loose ends left from casting on and binding off.
Finishing:
Once you've woven in all ends, your chunky knit scarf is complete! Enjoy wearing it or gifting it to a loved one.
